Fears are growing for a popular YouTube star who vanished after sharing a distressing video with his 133,000 followers.

Desmond Amofah, better known by his online name of Etika, was last seen in Brooklyn on Wednesday - hours after he posted an eight-minute video in which he revealed he was suicidal.

Cops are now pleading for public information after confirming they have discovered some of the 29-year-old's personal items by the side of the Manhattan Bridge.

Amofah's wallet, cell phone and Nintendo Switch were all located in the area, according to The New York Post.

Meanwhile, concerned fans have flocked to the star's Instagram account - where he boasts 239,000 followers - to express their concern. Amofah also boasts 314,0000 on Twitter.

'Please be safe, we can't lose you,' one pleaded in the comments sections beneath his most recent photo.

'We love you from the bottom of our hearts!' another stated.

Meanwhile, Amofah's distressing video has since been taken down from YouTube, however parts of it can still be found online.

In the clip, the star, who is famous for his online gaming videos, is seen walking along, speaking into the camera as he states: ' I'm sorry I pushed you all away...   I shouldn't have pushed so many people away, now I've got nobody'.

He then disturbingly adds: 'You know I wasn't suicidal before - I really wasn't. But one thing I didn't realize was that the walls were closing around me so fast. I really had no intention of killing myself but I'd always push it too far.

'I guess I am mentally ill,' he concludes.

Amofah's former girlfriend has told InsideEdition that the star has a history of mental illness, and was hospitalized as recently as April.

The woman - who dated the star from 2011 until 2017 - said he has been hospitalized several times in the past.

His final tweet was a reaction to the latest episode of 'Attack on Titan' television show.
